Tips for your Crystal by the Sun Candle
Trim the Wick
Before each use, trim the wick to about ¼ inch to ensure a clean, even burn and prevent excessive smoke or soot (Use a wick trimmer or scissors). Before you light your candle, double-check your wick’s length. Try to be as precise as you can. A too-short wick can get lost in a sea of melted wax and fail to light.
Allow for a Full Melt Pool
On the initial burn, allow the candle to melt to the edges of the container to prevent tunneling and maximize the candle’s lifespan.
Burn Responsibly
Never leave a candle unattended, near flammable objects, or in reach of children or pets. Place the candle on a heat-resistant surface.
Store Candle in Cool & Dark Place
Unfortunately, your candles can expire over time. And while they’re unlikely to spoil the same way food does, they can lose their fragrance, become discolored, or otherwise grow stale. Temperature fluctuations can speed the aging process up—and light can, too. Find a cool, dark place to store your candles between seasons. (Brown recommends storing your candles at room temperature.) And whenever possible, try to light your candles within 12 to 16 months of buying them.
Reusing the Gemstone
Once the candle has burned down, let the gemstone cool and cleanse it. You can then display it in your home, use it in meditation, or carry it with you as a reminder of the candle’s energy. or
